Good BYE Z3.....

Today I sold my Z3... I love that car and driving it was such a pleasure. But with NYC living it made sense to sell it. I went to a "cars for cash" place nearby and for some reason they gave me 10 two dollar bills. The process was so easy & quick. I think I did well & got a decent price for it. Afterall, my little beauty is a looker, but has a whollata' miles on her! I will be a car owner again in the near future. I surrendered my plates, returned my EZPass, and now traveling with a Metro Card! :-)

And life goes on.....

English - When to use "a" and "an" ...

Ok, so i'm very new to this blogging thing and perhaps just trying to fill space... :-)

The Rule

The rule states that “a” should be used before words that begin with consonants (e.g., b, c ,d) while “an” should be used before words that begin with vowels (e.g., a,e,i). Notice, however, that the usage is determined by the pronunciation and not by the spelling, as many people wrongly assume.

You should say, therefore, “an hour” (because hour begins with a vowel sound) and “a history” (because history begins with a consonant sound).

Similarly you should say “a union” even if union begins with a “u.” That is because the pronunciation begins with “yu”, which is a consonant sound.
